• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Hey I'm new. Kinda.

Hey everyone! I've been lurking around this site for years and finally got around to getting one of these cars because I couldn't really pass up the price. I picked up a 2000 GTP coupe a couple weeks ago for $300. It definitely needed some TLC but, it's nothing out of my realm of skill and knowledge to repair. Within the first 5or so days I've replaced the radiator and hoses, rack and pinion, power steering pump and lines, both outer tie rods, ball joints, sway bar links, brakes and rotors all around, did both plugs and wires, fuel filter, oil change, and a bunch of other little piddly crap to get this thing back on the road. Doing all of the work myself and finding the deals has really kept the budget in tact. I've still got one thing to do and that's the oil pan. I didn't notice it leaking because for one... The oil was low... And two... There was a massive P.S. Fluid leak. Lol. So, hopefully after that's done and over with I'll be on the road!!

Hey, another STL guy! Not bad looking for 3 bones! Have fun with the pan since the motor has to be jacked up to clear the crank. The only other thing I'd do that wasn't on your list would be replace the LIM gaskets with the updated aluminum ones and a coolant flush/change to get rid of the DexCool junk which has probably muddied up pretty well by now. How many miles on it?

Didn't know the 00 GTP had the option of the crosslace wheels, unless the previous owner changed them out. Looks like it was hit in the back at some point too, time to hit up a JY and grab some white bumpers. Would be cheaper than paint and make it almost 100% as the body looks really clean. Speedway over in IL might have some. Still a solid looking GP for the age. Any rust in the rockers or the rear strut towers?

I think 00 was the last year for the crosslaces.

It's got 223k on the clock. I think it's in pretty decent shape considering the miles. It has been rode hard though... It use to belong to a teenager. He couldn't afford to take care of it and just let it go. I think the motor runs extremely strong. No hesitation or anything. Transmission shifts smoothly with no problems. Fluid looks good . I flushed the coolant system when I replaced the radiator too. There's a little rust behind the front fender on the passenger side at the bottom. But other than that it's in good shape.

Honestly... Once I get some headlights(I hate the ones on the car now). And find some of the stock chrome 5-spoke wheels it'll look A LOT cleaner.
