Hey GTP Gang!

Amelio

New member
Just joined....on a few other forums for my other cars and felt it was time to join a GTP forum. Mostly because I have been driving the GTP a ton lately with my new job. It's the wife's car but with my new job I drive on average of 100 miles a day so putting fuel in my Denali was killing me.

I have owned this car for a long time....I bought it back in '06 but bought it from my mom which she got it new and I have always done all the servicing......228,000 miles and it still runs like it did when it was new:)

I will most likely by my wife a newer car this year...hopefully..... and I am pretty sure I am gonna keep the GTP. I really love this thing it still rips the tires off and gets 22mpg in the city as a moatter of fact I beat up on my buddy's lil BMW Z4 the other night lol!

I am going to do a few mods later this year and wanted to see what others are doing with success. I am no stranger to working on cars or mods.....as a matter of fact everything I own is modded lol!

You will see me pop up looking forward to hearing from members about their rides and mods!

Thanks!

Welcome brother! There are plenty of very helpful people who are more than willing to assist in any way possible. Don't hesitate to ask a question, when you have it either in the form of a thread, (make sure it's in the right section, and use the search bar at the top to make sure the issue hasn't been covered already), or hit us up in the chat, were more than happy to help! Cheers man, and hope you enjoy the forum!

Thanks guys!

Thanks for the link Austins01GP I am only planning to do minor mods.....headers, tune and a pulley.......Then some suspension mods.

I dont wanna go too far cause I still really enjoy the fuel mileage and once you start modding too much more things have to be changed and things break.

I have an '87 Buick Grand National that started with a few mods turned into wayyyyyyy more than I ever thought I also have a '69 Vette that is mostly a car show\drag strip toy so I don't need another vehicle to throw too much money at.

Nice R6! I used to have an R1 now I have a Busa.....more comfy with 2up :)

Phew...you clearly understand the throw money, break something, throw money, break something cycle.

OMG you have no idea.....well maybe you do...LOL!

Yes you can say I am very well versed in blowing sh*t up LOL.......Lots of boost= empty wallet!

Thanks guys!

thanks man! its alot of fun and they are good bikes:o and as far as mods go for fuel economy i have 3.4, tune, headers, intake, etc. the basics and my fuel economy on the high way if any thing increased.
and no problem about that link! it has pretty much everything you need to get started

Thanks everyone....Like i said I dont wanna get crazy with the car just a few small items, mostly want to get a tune and either a set of headers or just upgraded front manifold as mentioned in that good write up. Possibly a smaller pulley just for fun.

This car has really been problem free since day one, I have only done minor fixes on the car....uhhhhh lets see I did front wheel bearing assemblies at 200k with tie rod ends.....did a fuel pump around 190k widow regulator on driver door and driver pass door.....typical GM :) and I am doing a water pump this weekend and the car currently has 228k on it.

All in all it has been the best car I have ever owned as far longevity....oh and I did replace the cat pipe due to that cheesey acordian style flex flang GM used craking. The engine sounds great and looks very clean I inspected everything good when I did the intake manifold gaskets a few months ago. The only issue I need to tend to after my water pump is the bearing in the blower snout is starting to make some noise. Other than that the car still runs out very strong!

Possibly one of the best GM cars produced IMO.

Thanks guys.....yeah I had just cleaned out the garage so I snapped a pic.......I would like to build a shop out behind my house so when I do work on my crap I actually have room. The Buick takes a lot of my time but it is to be expected when you squeeze lots of hp from a little pacakage. This is why I wanna keep the mods to the GTP at a minimum....I dont need another car to work on all the time.

oh and haters are welcome....I take it as a compliment :).....plus I got friends I hate on all the time with their new toys! LOL...... I have my eye on a C6 Z06 but I would have to either give up my truck which is a no no cause I gotta have a tow vehicle or the GN which I havent been able to bring myself to do just yet.
