For A 2001 Pontiac GP SE, to install a aftermarket Deck, what all extra pieces besides the Car Holding Kit, and harness would I need to install the Deck?
 


If you don't have a factory amp, all you will need is the wire kit and install kit. If you have the factory amp, you'll have to a total rewire to bypass it.

only if he/she wants to have subs and junk the bose speakers...u can run a deck with just harness and dash kit.
 
I didn't know that, my friend to his car to a shop and they told him they would have to bypass the factory amp. Do the GP's have RCA's running to the amp?
 
i kept all mine running off factory amp...until i upgradedspeakers then had to totally run new wires for aftermarket amp.i guess u could do it either way...bypass bose amp and run speakers off deck...or vice versa
 
im not sure about this...i know i have factory amps (2 of em) but i bought the $120 buck wiring harness for new GM's and let the pro's put it in at a sound shop cause I couldnt get it to play when i wired it...Hope i'm not hurting anything.
 


I threw a new deck in and tore out the whole Bose system, reran all wires.

I'm not sure what wiring harness you got, but the harness needed to keep the factory amp and new headunit working was upwards of $100 so you might have gotten the right one.

When installing, don't forget to plug your power antennae wire into a power wire on your deck. It doesn't say to do this in most directions and the result is very poor radio reception. Some say to crimp the remote turn on wire on the deck into the turn on wire for the factory amp and the factory speakers will work, but I didn't have any luck doing that.

100 bucks damnnnnnn...i paid 35 for mine...from a place that i am a reapeat customer for years

yeah, everyplace, Xtreme Soundz (local care audio store), Best Buy, etc...all claimed that the normal wiring harness's wouldn't work...Trust me i woulda got out of paying the cash if i could lol...
