• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Here's one for I800

what?

Fs factors into the rest of the T/S specs in order to tell you how the driver behaves in different boxes using a driver simulation program.

Alls i'm trying to say is, there will be a LOT of force pushing up and down very quickly, flexing the crap out of that rear deck in both directions.

I'm running two 6.5" drivers with 11 mm Xmax and its flexing enough to rattle.

How did I miss this thread?!?! IB hrmmm. Is the trunk and rear deck sealed from the trunk? This would make it easier. I think some people try to match Vas x 10 for the location size as a cheat to minimize the effect of not having a real IB location.

EDIT: As for the above...you HAVE to reinforce the baffle/rear deck. Some people do that by welding in braces...

If you want to use a sealed box. Same issue as IB. You need to seal the trunk from the cabin if the rear deck is your "baffle". I'm pretty sure you can use the 8" alpine type R for .5 cubic feet sealed and a lot of power. They should sound pretty good on a wide range of music too. If you want IB I'd go with acoustic elegance car specific IB speakers. They'll have to make them for you tho...

AE Speakers --- Superb Quality, Unforgettable Performance, Definitely.

IIRC, he likes to source everything stateside.

Well...either way, in the past he used Asia parts and that's why he prefers stateside. QA was EVERYWHERE. I just know that some guys on DIYmobileaudio.com are using IB still but it takes him a few months to fulfill their orders. Not sure why tho?

AE is two people. I looked into them but i'm not waiting 6 months.

As far as the 8" Type R my amp is too big. But a 12" shallow mount would work. 8" needs .4 cubic feet or something liek that. 12" shallow mount is .6 cubic feet.

What about a bass tube? Small. Should provide enough bass for my liking, more interested in SQ than SPL. Easy to remove if needed.

Any ideas where I can get one that's not already loaded? Need an empty one

Op get a good sq 10 or 12 and have a box built around your cars cabin gain... You will be more than happy!!

Didn't realize people use cabin gain on SQ setups. Thought it was more of an SPL thing to pull as many dB's as possible. I'll look into that some more.

Ok, here's what we're gonna do. I don't want to buy another sub so i'm gonna reuse my 12" Type R and put it in a sealed box, prob around 1cf-1.25cf. People say it's decent for SQ. It gets fairly loud as well IMO. Not 150 dB loud by fairly loud.

I still need to check out the cabin gain.

Im gonna snag another 12" Type R. Alpine updated their line today apparently and the new 12" Type R's are 1000RMS. So I can get the "old" version that's 600RMS for a decent bit cheaper than what they used to be.

Too bad the IB idea was shot down, I was gonna ask about the difference in sound with hookers in the trunk compared to jailbait. ... or cats.

even though the old type r's are rated at 600rms. the general consensus was that they can handle quite a bit more
