Heres a 1997 GTP my friend is interested in. Any good or bad things bout them?

Naw that its about right like I said the most I would pay is $2k even if that thing was in amazing condition. And as far as modding goes you can mod the 97's the same as the other years, its the stock parts that are slightly different, blower, trans lines, PCM abs system.

biggest gripe i've heard about 97's is the vacuum controlled transmission
In 97 the GT had the 4T60E and some SE's came with it, the GTP had the 4T65E-HD, 4T65E was not a vacuum controlled trans. So the 97 GTPs you do not have to worry about the vacuum controlled transmission.

So in 98 all Grand Prixs had at least the 4T65E?

OK I have 1997 GT Coupe non supercharged (BTW the hood on that one is ugly) anyway I am the original owner took care of it right proper oil changes, tune ups cleaned and waxed regular, car still looks real good after 150,000 miles had to change the dreaded LIMs (normal on these cars) 300,000 miles I changed the whole suspension because it wore out. Oh yeah and a deer committed suicide on the hood so I replaced it with a GTX ram air one Why did I do it? I love the way the car rides and handles and the looks of it. Now at 300,300 miles I need to change the motor mounts. Yes there are some things on the 97 that are different from other years but I think 300,000 miles on it says a lot. But then again it all depends on how it was maintained and driven(hey I hit 90 mph regular so I don't baby it but not Jackrabbit starts or neck snapping stops) So not sure everyone pics on the 97's but anyway thats just 2 cents on the car. Now then again yes I put that money into my car BUT I had every intention of keeping it. But like SeanGTP said it could be golden. I seen people drop brand ne trannys in a car that had no other problems then sell it because now they were scared of the car.

AFAIK yes they did.
Should i be worried that when i got mine rebuilt the guy had a 4T60E booklet out?! Oh well it works so far. lol

Thanks for all the advice here. Seems like if its taken care of its good and I do believe in miracles so we will check it over and see what we can figure out.

I think the only difference between the 4T60E and 4T65E is that one is vac controlled and the other isn't. I think a lot of the parts and stuff are the same between the 2 so yeah. Don't quote me on this this is just going from looking at them so.

And another thing why do people on craigslist and ebay always take such ****ty pics of their cars when they are trying to sell them?

Let me wash my car and I could get you amazing pics of my crappy car tomorrow.

It can be done i didnt mean that it was impossible. lol. He probly doesnt have time to wash it himself and its like below freezing or close to it so that makes it really rough. I do wash my car when its 34 degrees just cause i think car washes at the drive through thinger are totally pointless. You go through, come out, and people can still draw naughty things on your car in the dirt that it doesnt get off.
