help with trans leak

about 2 years ago we had the trans in the wifes car rebuilt. They did a good job on the rebuild but I noticed when they put the trans back in the dipstick tube was not in the right place but rather over and in between the hard lines coming out of the master cylinder. No big deal as it never gave an issue. A couple of weeks ago I replaced both CV axles and output seals. Then I found we had a leak. I thought it was the seals but they were dry. A closed inspection reveals there is a hole at the bottom of the dipstick tube itself.

Now I cant imagine how the hell that happens and Im wondering if it has anything to do with the install of the trans but that was 2 years ago and was just found so maybe not but still the question is how the hell does this happen?

The second question is Ive narrowed it down to a $20 part but it is as easy as pulling the tube out of the trans?

not sure what i am looking at but when my dipstick was leaking at the base of it I just used goop glue crap i got at the auto store. never leaked after that. $5 fix
 
I found this in my Alldata. Looks pretty easy enough.

Automatic Transmission Dipstick - Dipstick Tube: Service and Repair
Fluid Filler Tube Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the transaxle oil level indicator.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. refer to Vehicle Lifting.
3. Remove the catalytic converter from the exhaust manifold.
4. Remove the fluid filler tube bracket bolt.
5. Remove the fluid filler tube.
Installation Procedure
Important: Do NOT place the fluid filler tube seal on the fluid filler tube when installing the tube or damage to the seal will result.
1. Install the fluid filler tube seal in the transaxle.
2. Position the fluid filler tube.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the fluid filler tube bracket bolt.
Tighten the bolt to 13 N.m (115 lb in).
4. Install the catalytic converter.
5. Lower the vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Do Not Overfill the Transmission Notice in Service Precautions.
6. Check and fill the transaxle as necessary.
7. Install the transaxle oil level indicator.
8. Inspect for fluid leaks.
 
Looks like the mounting bracket got ripped from the tube? That's the only thing I could thing that would cause a gaping hole like that.
 


and for install/removal. Put a pan under rear of subframe.. long extension with a 10mm and you can remove/install the new tube w/o pulling anything else.
 
As a follow up, I got this tube swapped out and yes it was where the mounting tab was mounting but broken off of the tube from where the shop installed the trans incorrectly.

However, it did not fix my leak like I thought it was. I found it to be a bad output seal on the pass side.

That has also been replaced and now everything looks good.
