doing a quck reference at autozone, the pushrods seem to be the same and I assume the rockers are the same. I hear that over time that the rods and rockers will wear into a groove, so it's best to keep the pushrods and rockers as the same pair. So it doesn't matter S/C or N/A, just keep them in the right pairs.

so if i have carbon build up in the new engine i bought should i use the ones from the s/c engine via the others maybe cloged due to that build up?

so the lady who owned it said it knocked then quit when i took fly bolts out it only went 3/4 revolution around but i got them out and i was told that the heads may be bad by a friend but it was a rod knock not a over heat would u think heads are still usable i have all new gaskets and all

17 - Double check everything once that is done. This step is one of the most vital of the entire swap. Once you are confident you did everything correctly, go ahead and position your old/new rocker arm pedestals onto the heads, your old/new pushrods into the motor and your old/new rocker arms onto the heads. You should be using new rocker arm bolts, as the old ones cannot be used.

Torque to: 11 lb ft + 90° going from the inside towards the outside, every other bolt. In other words, just don't torque two bolts that are next to each other one after another.

ok im confused keep the ones from my sc motor with the heads would u think the sc heads would be bad if the sc motor threw a rod?

i didnt think so but a freind that stoped by said they could be bad my argument for that was sc motor threw a rod not overheated]

well im told if they are warped even a little bit thy could be bad but agin the sc motor did not over heat it was rod knock im just gonna clean them as bestt i can and hope the heads and lim and uim all; seal i only need threaD SEALER ON THE OUTER HEAD BOLTS ARE THEY THE ONLY BOLTS THAT PASS THRU THE WATER JACKET

You need new head bolts.

Piston might have chipped or let go completely.

You should inspect the head before making the assumption that its fine even though it was never overheated.

Seems most L67 heads are cracked between the valve seats.

Not that those cracks matter.

But damage from a piston eating the head is.

take them to a machine shop and get them checked for cracks and flatness. There is a certian tolerance that they can be warped. out of that tolerance and they have to mill them down.

help harmonic balancer removal

so i rented the tool from autozone and cant get any of the bolts to go in harmonic i have almost completed my 3800 to swap harmonic is the last thing before motor installation it seems the kit they give me has bolts that are to large from what i understand they are pre threaded harmonic but the holes inside are small and the kit doesnt have bolts small enuff are there other removal kits?

Re: help harmonic balancer removal

I think you need special bolts to do it. I used a big 3 jaw pulley puller to get the one off my motor.
