Help with motor swap

Ok so I have a 2001 gtp that I am getting ready to put a different motor possibly transmission out of a 97 I know the motors will interchange but I need to know the difference between the transmissions also would I need to swap computers or anything else
 


the 97 trans wont work, the engine should be as easy as old one out, new one in, plug and play deal. you'll want to use your TB though. your sensors are different maf and such.

Trans will work as long as it's GTP to GTP. The only differences on the engine are the alternator, alternator bracket and the evap stuff. So if you swap your 01 stuff onto the 97 engine..you will be all set. Drop it in and use 2001 computer.

What's the difference on the tb and what's the difference between the two transmission
 
They are both gtps I have both cars one is just rusted out and I don't want to do a transmission swap if it won't work I heard the 97s transmissions are better but don't know for sure
 


only real difference is what bill said, a hand full of sensors need to be taken from your old engine and put on the 97 engine, 97 used different sensors that wont plug into your harness.

if the 97 has not had the lim gaskets done yet, do them before you put the engine in the car. but put your lower intake, blower, TB, and injectors, fuel rail and alt bracket and alt from the 01 on the 97 engine.
 
Ya I have already ordered gaskets for the top end of the motor planned on using the 01 fuel rail alternator etc but planned on using 97 blower it's brand new why the injectors?
 
why not the injectors? lol they got to be newer then the 97 injectors.

if you unbolt the fuel rail, and lift it off with the injectors still in it, then lay it to the side, then you just put them back on the new motor.
 


The 99+ TB has a different maf sensor. So swap the TB.

Here's your list of things to swap.
TB
EVAP and vacuum lines (plug the ports from the tree next to the TB on the 97 charger)
Alternator
Alternator bracket
Check the coolant sensor in the LIM.. might be different, might not.

That should be it.
