Help with maintence

Hey guys I am getting ready to redo my suspension components with some new struts and account springs. My car is a 98 gtp with 100000 miles on it and everything underneath is stock. Just curious since I will already have it all torn apart and easily accessible, what else should need replacing or would be safe to replace now as preventive maintenance. Also with the struts and spring I will out new strut bearing places. I need an overview on what should be replaced or hat to look at since I am at 100 thousand miles so that I do not have to tear it all apart again soon. Thanks

maybe strut mounts? i would while there out cause you prob wont be replacing struts for another 100k lol

Do your hubs have play?

Are your control arm bushings ripped or torn?

New sway links? Possible new sway bar if its stock, cuz it'll break sooner or later. (gmpartsdirect for that)

Ok thats what I needed just what to check and is it quite a bit difference with upgraded sway bars and poly bushings?

I was also gonna suggest a new sway bar and oh yeah there's a difference. If u get the dorman sway bar that's solid and not hollow, its pretty nice. Ppl recommend dropping the sub frame 2 or 3 inches to make it easier. I didn't do it cuz my impact wasn't working but I KNOW it would've been easier if I did. So instead I had a buddy and we were on each side tugging and pushing and turning the wheel lol I image with the struts out of the way it would be pretty easy.

The hubs can wait cuz the strut doesn't have to come off for that. I suppose the control arm would be easier to mess with.

Do all your struts.... I just did all loaded so it was all new... Also do your sway bar. Doorman you can get from Autozone or RockAuto. I would also do at least front wheel hubs. And do tie rod ends. They are cheap and easy to do.

When I did mine I did struts, springs, mounts, strut bearing, tie rod ends, sway bar links, rotors, brakes and sway bar (Mine had rusted through on the end) and LCA's but the car had 300,000 miles on it and after the job it rode like new

if you get the dorman sway bar off of ebay its like 90 bucks with free shipping. if you can wait. otherwise autozone has it for like 140.

rock auto has it for like $77 or something... But then you gotta pay shipping... I dont know how much that is

If you want to do the whoel thing. Id suggest doing the GMPP handleing kit.

Gmpartdirect.com, GM PART # pk12456148

or if you just want the front sway bar its P/N 12498643 Heavy Duty Front Sway Bar w/insulator and end links

thats what i did. mine rotted through on both ends so i literally was driving around for months with no sway bar. it sucked.

Ya it's on it's way Gunna put the excel-gs with scc springs that are meant for the sound system so they have a 1.8 in the front an a 1 inch drop in the back. Ordered the real gmpp sway bar this morning and just have to get the strut mounts. I have a broken wheel stud on one side would it e in my best interest to get those upgraded new studs or are the stock ones just fine?

i never heard of upgraded studs. honestly if you take care of the studs by properly putting tires on and taking them off you'll never have to worry about them breaking.
