Help with aftermarket headunit instead of monsoon

Timing

So i got a jenson headunit not to long ago for basicly free and now i just got my hand on a nice sub and amp and everything needed. Now i do have a decent backround with hooking car audio up but im having trouble with this headunit. Now i got a basic wiring harness from best buy with the speakers power acc ground ect. thinking it would work, idk see why it wouldnt i just know i wouldnt have the heads up display show things and the steering wheel controls and chimes wont work, and im fine with that. I wasnt going to spend 110$ on a wiring harness for those. So my question is, have people hooked up there system with this basic wiring harness? I got it all hooked up and the unit turns on but does nothing and plays nothing so is it my headunit thats bad or the wiring harness? 2004 grand pric comp g with monsoon

also another thing to note it came with a red ignition switch wire but had one on the harness already aswell, i hooked the one on harness to the one on the headunit. Do i need to splice in this other one and go to thefuse or power?

oic so the monsoon system has an amp that i wire that red wire from to the acc wire on deck or to a fuse box?

or is it like a remote?

in the wiring harness there is an amp turn on i thought this was for a sub amp but where should i splice it to? the acc wire or the fuse boxxx

i was reading a forum just now and i think 97-01 or w/e was pink and mine is tan ima go check

no pink, just a tan and i tried hooking that blue amp on wire from the harness to the acc wire and it did nothing. But one thing my deck is turning on but i cannot change any setting or anything. so is my deck bad?

ill go over my wiring i have setup.

Headunit---wiring harness
ground-----ground
red ign-----red ign
yellow bat--yel bat
orange dim- orange dim

and obv all speakers green, purp, white, gray

things that arnt hooked up on harness are
Blue amp on
orange illum

the blue amp turn on in the harness goes to the blue amp turn on in the radio harness, this should turn on the Monsoon amp so you will get sound, just make sure you use the blue remote wire from the radio and not the one for the power antenna, which most likely is blue/white. You may have to run the red ignition wire to the fuse box and wire to an ignition powered source. The 04+ GP radio actually turn on via the data feed on the radio.

i do not have a blue amp turn on wire on my deck

WHAT?...... Then wire the blue wire from the harness to an ignition source power to turn on the amp.
What headunit do you have and how old is it?
