help with a neon

My girlfriend has a 04 neon and when its sitting in drive at a stop light it kind of lunges, and its worse in reverse. When it is in nuetral it rarely does it. What could that be?

Im not a neon expert but it sounds like motor/trans mounts

when you say "lunges" what do you mean? do you mean the idle goes up and down on its own? if so, check the PCV valve. that will cause sparatic idle.

I just got my GTP, which was a replacement for my 03 Neon, which I had for 5 years. I spent a lot of time on neons.org, which has a great forum for questions like this. My 03 was a 5 speed, but from what I remember, Auto neons tend to have problems with the IAC, which would lead to a problem that sounds like the one you're describing.
