wanna see if i can tackle this tonight. i'm pretty darn sure that i'm too low on freon for the compressor to kick on and so of course the compressor won't take the can. whats the easiest trick to jump the compressor so it kicks on and will suck in my can?
 


that kind of thing is usually a frozen compressor or a sensor gone bad. if you unplug the compressor and put a 12 volt wire to the post that the green wire was on, it should come on, but its not a good idea, because even if it loads up it still wont work on demand like it should.
 
but if the compressor isnt coming on because its low on freon then the sensor is good right? i'm pretty sure thats the only thing wrong. i just need to jump it so itll take a can and it should work on demand
 
if everything is working it should turn on when there is enough R what ever it is pumped in, if its not coming on on its own its bad, or its a sensor.

i do know that the green wire is the power wire and 12 volts to that post will turn it on. that green wire comes from a sensor. so no power bad sensor.
 
ur right it should come one when there is enough R 134-a pumped in. BUT it WONT turn on if its too low. thats what the low pressure sensor is for so that it doesnt run on low freon. so i need to jump the compressor in order for me to pump in more freon. then it'll run on its own.

so all i need to do is run a wire to that post to turn it on, and thats all i was wondering. thanks man
 


just get a pressurized can of the a/c refill kits... they fill the low pressure side and once it packs enough in there, the the compressor should work. it doesn't need to suck, it gets forced into the line by the can being more pressure than the low side. for your first time, get one that has a gauge. They usually work by setting the dial on the gauge to the temperature of the air outside. to fill faster, i usually cheat and turn the can upside down in short bursts
 
as a side note, my wife has a car that had the engine replaced under warranty. they forgot to recharge the a/c system. one can was more than enough to fill it.
i did it myself b/c we were about to go on a trip... in august....
 
theres two lines in an a/c. a high pressure side and low pressure side. aka discharge line and suction line. with ANY a/c system in the world whether its a house, refidgerator, whatever. it goes into the suction line. you cant force it in there. it has to be sucked in. and in order for it to be sucked in the compressor needs to run. otherwise it wont take it and otherwise you wouldnt have to have the car running to do it cuz y would u if it just goes in? you can take that cheap hose and puncture the can, but nothing will come out of the other end because it needs to be sucked. the only way something will come out of the hose is if you take the side that punctured the can off.

unless theres a special "pressurized can" i dont know about. theres no way you can force it in there.
 
Dude, you don't need to jump jack diddley. If the system won't take freon then you have a big enough leak that the system has no vacuum to pull freon in. Therefore you got bigger problems. You need to fix the leak then pull the system down and refill with oil charge and freon.
 


When you have a new system the first thing you do is hook up a vacuum pump, you pull the system down for about 45 minutes, this creates negative pressure AKA vacuum. It also removes any condensation from the system, once you hook up the can it sucks it in because you have a vacuum AKA lower atmospheric bar level. if the system has a leak and the pressure is allowed to go out the leak you end up with a system that won't take freon. You gotta find the leak first bro, fix it, pull a vacuum and re-charge otherwise you are throwing away what? 10 to 13 dollars a can of freon for nothing!
 
the compressor will turn on all by its self if everything in the system is working right when refilling. if not you have a bad sensor or bad wires or corroded plug. or a huge ass leak.
 
First things first, when you press the schrader valve down on the low or high pressure line do you get any freon trying to escape? or do you get nothing?
 


THE AC SYSTEM WONT TAKE ANY REFILL CHARGE IF THE COMPRESSOR DOES NOT TURN ON.

If there is freon in the lines for sure then the pressure from the can should be enough to force it into the low pressure line enough until the compressor kicks on. Reason? Because you still have a vaccum effect happening within the lines.
 
your not listening at all. are you?

the vac and all that stuff is good to do, but ive filled countless working systems with cans, never, ever did i jump anything to fill the system.

the only reason i even know the green wire is power to the compressor is because that the wire you tap into for electric fans so they come on when the a/c is on for after market electric fans.
