Help!! WHAT IS THIS NOISE?!?!



Which noise? the thud thud thud thud thud like a cam (say that because we don't know what mods you have other than a intake and red valve covers) hint hint

or the random whack sound that sounds like piston slap?

Simple starter to help narrow this down.
- Mods list please, miles on the car, any pertinent info you can think of.

- Take both belts off the car, spin the pulleys by hand and make sure its not something simple like a bearing. (I really doubt this but its best to rule out the simple things first)

- While belts are off, start the car, let it idle for a bit (keep in mind if you let it idle too long without a belt on it will get hot, no water pump spinning, don't overheat the motor!) see if it still makes the noise. This will remove any chance of the supercharger or accessories being the culprit and narrow it down to base motor problems.

Come back and fill us in on what you find out.

just redid gaskets and other maintance on the car stripped most I the block down
been sitting for about 6 months with the same gas. There is a sea foam in this gas now and there was some in the oil before I changed it
In the vid the motor has just the serpentine belt on and very little coolant
this is the first fire up since I've fixed everything. Oil pressure is good
sound seems to be coming from inside the valve covers I'm not sure. The scan gauge says no misfires so idk what's goin on
altho I think it could have to do with bad wires

No lights no codes coming up. Going to double chek the order of the plugs also aand see what's up
 


I figured it out. The spark plugs were out of order and some was the headers hitting the fan. A little trimming of the plastic well e golden

And it's still idling a little rough but it has a tank of old gas that needs to burn off once that's done and I put some new gas in I'll put my new 104s in and it should be running as smooth as a baby's bottom
