Help ...trying to get GTP running (security issue, Maybe ??)

Hi everyone newbie from NC here . I have found A HUGE amount of information on this site and hope someone can help me, since I couldn't find an issue exactly like mine! I have been working on a 2002 GTP (in my spare time). the issue is. The car will crank and run for about 4 seconds (hence why I think a security issue) I can straight wire fuel pump and it RUNS ( LIKE A SCALDED DOG!! i love it ! ) HOWEVER, doing this seems to not let the computer go through the drive cycle. therefore I can't get it inspected . I thought it was the key so tried to go through the relearn process, however the security doesn't blank for ten minutes like I think it's supposed to?? so could someone help with my issue give me hints ideas etc to try ? thanks in advance

what year car is it? is it a gtp?

sounds like the high speed fuel pump resistor took a crap on you.

this trick only works in 97-00 sc cars.

scotty you should read more than the first sentence ..lol..he said it was a 2002 gtp in the third sentence

who really reads lol i suck.

could be a fuel pump issue, on the fuel rail is a shrader valve, take the cap off and after it stalls see if gas sprays out when you push the pin inside.

if nothing comes out, or its flows out weak, the pump is bad.

Thanks Guys for the tips! However if it was the fuel pump issue, would I be able to straight wire fuel pump & run it for DAYS with no running issue ? Really only thing I am doing by stright wiring is bypassing the Security & Relay right ? so wouldnt that mean pump should be fine right ?

try swapping the fuel pump relay? theres one next to it, same relays, you can swap them, see if it still runs.

your under hood fuse box should have a map on it of whats what.

your security light would be on if that was the issue. and when they have that issue, they dont even crank. aka dead key. wont run at all.

Thanks , I'll try the FP relay tomorrow , however I think I have already tried that before? Any other ideas on what else I could try tomorrow ?

if its running with the fuel pump hard wired, its not security. you'd have a red security warning in the dash light up too. well its red in my regal. its one of the dummy lights thats all light up when the key is turn to run, before you crank it.

Yea the GTP has the Security (spelled out) light in dash and Red Light on top of Dash, they both seem to work correctly ??
So maybe IF I check voltage at the FP relay tomorrow , it might tell me something ? what could cause it to loose power IF that is the issue ? the FP relay gets it power from Computer right ?

no idea how the power gets from A to B, but a bad relay is easy to swap around to see if thats the problem.

after that id start looking for rubbed through wires, the metal loop that holds the harness on the driver side dog bone mount, the wires to the pcm near the ac pipes and ports and the wires down by the sub frame on the pass side. like right above the balancer.

In the 2002 it's common enough for the ring around the key to go bad and not energize the key. Especially if you've tried the security learn and it doesn't work.

I had one that did this and ended up telling the fuel pump timer to not turn off because the car was owned by my neighbors kid and she wasn't having an ingnition replaced. Scotty will see this when he pulls up a file for your pcm and looks...since I'm tasking him with this.. lol

i found a file called boolean in security. in a 02 bin file. looks like it can be turned off, o is on, 1 is off.

bill is the w body god here. listen to him lol
