Car died in traffic, found tensioner pulley seized and belt broken. Replaced both now car cranks....and cranks but does not fire. Need some suggestions!! Thanks!!!

Maybe the belt hit the crank sensor wire harness when it broke.

Or hit the ignition control modules ground wire on the side of the block under the coil bracket.

did the belt get jammed behind the balancer by any chance? the large pulley at the bottom. if so the crank sensor may have taken a shot.

Yes, pulled big pieces of the belt from behind that pulley. I can see the crank sensor and it appears intact.

ive seen members have this same problem, when its light out take a good look at the harness, the icm ground wire, if all that looks good the sensor may be dead.

last guy whos belt broke and wrapped behind the balancer needed a new crank sensor.

Yes, it was the crank sensor. Mechanic also said the balancer needed to be replaced. I guess the belt did some damage to it as well.

Sucks that stuff like happens when its single digit temps outside. I like to do all my own repairs to an extent...and could probably have done this in my driveway in warmer weather.

storys like these make me glad i changed my chirping tensioner pulley before it let go.

LOL, Yeah its my sons car. He mentioned as I was replacing the belt that it had been chirping..he just thought it was the extreme cold we've been having. That and some of the dash lights have been on for a couple days. Had to bite my tongue...LOL. Needless to say now he knows to mention any odd sound....or dash light.
