help: removing a stuck oil drain plug

Meh.

Clamp on to the bolt by whatever method you prefer.
Get the oil or pan good and hot... by driving or torch.
Then hold some dry ice on the bolt for a couple minutes.
Then hammer at it.
 
Is the pan aluminum or steel?
I agree with getting the bolt hot if it's a steel pan. If it's aluminum you could make matters worse by heating it.
 
Yep, its steel. Tried heating it with no luck. This by far the most stubborn bolt I have ever dealt with in my 16 years of working on my own cars. Maybe I should just drill and tap a new hole ha ha
 


Did you get a set of those erwin bolt extractors yet? I haven't had one fail me yet. Even on round cold roll at work.
 


Twizted1, those look very similar to the Irwin set that Autozone has. I have a credit at Autozone and plan to get the set today or tomorrow. I figure it will be the most reliable and hopefully easiest way to get the plug out.
 
You hit the Nail right on the head.
The set below it are from matco, same thing just deeper and more of a selection.
I think that's going to be your easiest way to get that out. Be sure to use the one that feels like it barely wants to start on the bolt. Then Hammer the **** out of it.
Put your Biggest 3/8"ratchet on it and go to Strainin!! Lol
