Help me pick a 2Din HU

I had the Sony XAV-64BT in my chevy trailblazer I had. I really liked it, but sold it because it didnt fit my grand prix (2002) because they are 1 DIN. It had all the features you could possibly want.

This may just be me, but the last JVC double-DIN I had just decided to die on me about 2 years after I got it. I opened it up completely and in spite of being family experienced with electronics and circuitry, I couldn't find the problem. It would just turn on and the screen would stay black. It was one of the last generation Double-DIN multimedia head units.

I have the Kenwood Excelon DDX790 now and I love it. Feature wise it's very similar to the JVC but I like that the parametric EQ lets you fine tune the lows a bit more than the JVC did. Literally my one gripe is that the bluetooth is a little delayed. It'll take a second after hitting skip for my phone to actually change songs, but it doesn't really bother me. If you go with the Kenwood, I'd honestly spend the extra $50-100 to get the DDX790 over the DDX371. The buttons are relocated on the bottom so you actually get a bigger screen, one of the biggest I've seen in a double-DIN at least

I don't really want a 7" screen. I would rather not have the motorized faceplate that has to flip down to expose the cd slot. Just more stuff to break. Also based on everyone I know that has had one and all the gripes in the consumer reviews, the HU's in my budget range of under $400 generally have sub par touch functions. So I would rather have a physical volume knob and real buttons still so I don't have to fiddle with a chunky touchscreen just to turn the volume down or change a song.

It will be going in my 99 too, I'm just going to hack the dash up and make it fit

Why cut everything apart for a double din without touch screen? That's the only reason I can see going through the trouble to do it. I for one would go for best sound within your budget, something like:

: )
Just my $.02

No...I'm still getting a touch screen...not a 7 inch screen where the whole face is a screen with like 2 tiny buttons across the bottom. I want one with a 6" screen and a button console down the side with real normal size buttons and a volume knob

do you have one of those? the only thing I didnt like about that one was the 2V rca outputs, and its only 14w output on the internal amp. If I got it I would have to do a 4 channel on all the components right off the bat. That will be throwing down a lot of cash all at once. Im planning on getting a kicker 700.5 and a good set of front components too.

Ahh okay, yeah if you're running a couple amps you're screwed then. I have the avh 4500 bt, but that's a full 7 inch one. My brother has the one I just showed you n it's nice. I used to have the 2400bt. Check that one out, I forget if it had more rca ' tho.
