Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

help me identify this sound please!

lately (over the last week) when would come to a stop, i've been hearing a sound coming from what i think is my engine bay. im going try to describe it as best as possible, since of course when i took the video camera out to record the sound it wouldnt do it.

its a rythmic cluck cluck cluck (not clunk), with a few seconds in between..so 1, 2, cluck cluck cluck, 1, 2, cluck cluck cluck, 1, 2, and so on. its not very loud. it only last for a few seconds as well. (think: 1, 2, cluck cluck cluck ( being the 3, 4), 5, 6, cluck cluck cluck (being the 7, 8,)

heres where it gets strange. the car only makes the noise in the foward gears (not in park, R, or N) D, 1, 2, 3, all make the noise. i turned OFF my HVAC to see if i could hear it better and it became a constant cluck cluck cluck cluck cluck. also, i can only hear it from inside the car. if i get out, pop the hood (car in drive with someone with brakes on) and listen all over the engine bay i cant hear it, i cant hear it under the car or in the wheel wells. it doesnt make the noise all the time, but when it does it sounds exactly the same.

so its not my radio, not my HVAC, not anything inside the car, but i dont think its engine related either since it only makes the noise in the foward gears.

i think i have a bad mount somewhere because i get a pop when i start, stop, back up, or shift into gear sometimes. so i was thinkign transmission mount and its just shaking rythmicly because the car is idling. but now that it became constant clucking (even though the car still doesnt do it all the time) im thinking differently.

doesnt matter if the car is hot or cold either. interceptor shows no misfires and no codes, ses is not on.

only at a complete stop is when u hear the 'cluck' sound? might be either trans mount or lower engine mount. if u can try to get a sound/vid clip.

Holy crap Kyle. this week end i heard a noise as well in my GTP. only under braking. I did however find after i removed my front drivers side tire ( i was going to check out the brakes) that behind the strut on the inner fender wall there r 3 bolts with nuts on. it holds a bracket from the engine compartment dealing with the brakes. all 3 of the nuts were lose. I dont think they were ever tight, no paint missing behind them. I tightened them up BUT, i still have the noise. I did take some pics and will upload them when i get home from work and I'm working on a video of the noise. I need to convince the wife to drive the car without hitting me as i shot the vid.

sounds like ur exhaust system is hitting somewhere. you might have a mount going whick is making your engine move a little more than if should. might explain why it dosen't happen in reverse either it pulls away from the bottom of the firewall.

just my .02.
You did a hell of a job on the vid. great work.

im thinking/hoping its just a bad mount causing somethign to hit..

and that video was nothing. it took longer to save as a finished movie file than it took to "edit" it, lol.

I installed pacesetters, used an aftermarket clamp on the y-pipe and whenever I went in reverse, it would keep clunking against something. Went under the car and found that one of the bolts on the clamp was hitting against the firewall, took the bolt out, cut it down some and the sound was gone.

Now I have the clunking whenever in forward gears, like your situation. I'm going to have to get under the car and inspect it to see if its hitting my swaybar, which I think is happening. The fix for that is flipping the sway bar... yayyyy...

I'll have to see but I think if I just have someone get in the car and switch from D to P and grab the swaybar to see if its vibrating good enough, then I should be able to tell if thats the problem.

make sure you keep us up to date on this. I still have a funny sound coming from my front end when i tap on the brake pedal.

yeah, but you cant hear it outside the car at all, everything sounds normal there. plus a broken flexplate would still make noise in P, R, and N, as well, right?

im guessing it could be a broken flex plate.

i had my torque converter bolts come loose and made some wierd knocking noise idling. maybe your not hearing it in park or nuetral because idle is higher , doesnt explain reverse thou. just something to look into.

it hasnt shown its ugly face in a few days now. it stopped at some point between when i checked my spark plug wires to make sure they were all on completely and i started a VE tune and messed with some tranny tables.

I'm having an issue like this. Making a similar sound. At first the Service Engine Soon light came on so I stopped by my brothers shop. I did a scan and a "Random Misfire" code came up but it was in the history codes. I reset the Service light and started driving again. Next thing I know the light comes on again and was flashing. The engine now clucks like crazy like on the second video posted. It doesn't matter what gear I'm in. When I popped the hood the engine pops up about an inch everytime it clucks. I figure I'll start with the spark plug wires and spark plugs because I previously got the misfire code. Any advice if that's not the issue? Thanks!

it sounds like rough idle, on my older car it did the same to me when i was in 12 or D but it stoped when in N or P
