Help me choose new wheels for 2015!!!

I've been running the same wheels for years, had many tire dismounts which resulted in lots of careless mechanics chipping away at the finish.

Decided last year to dip them black so they wouldn't be too sore on the eyes. Fast forward... tired of the rubbery/hard to clean/brake dust collecting look I've been sporting for a while. Let's move on!

I am open to suggestions, hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

I have TWO requirements:

NO chrome (machined face is OK)
18" wheels ONLY

Rear fenders are rolled to an extent, so I can clear 245/45/18 on 42/45 offset.

If there are any Photoshop gurus, please please please modify some of my pictures and SELL me.

I'll post an overall look of the car to give you an idea of the theme, and one side shot which should be easy to visualize the wheels.

THANKS GUYS!

Here are some tentative choices I've been dabbling with, this will also give you an idea of what I am going/looking for. :th_thumb-up:

I haven't really seen a Grand Prix with bronze wheels, not sure if it'd look silly or not. Would hate to be disgusted by my own creation!

Gpona sig says SSCs

like the last one

Bilsteins and SSCs equal this height (good eye). I have no idea what everyone's obsession with super-low cars is, they ride like dog **** on this platform. The price of powdercoating something big like wheels around here costs more than a new set. Price aside, I'd still have the same wheels! I really like the concave look. I don't think I could go wider than 8.5" either or I'm sure I'll be ripping sidewalls apart again on the rears.

you won't get any concave with 8.5" wide wheels anyway so go ahead and erase that from your brain.

only because i know i've been looking at the same wheels for my car, those pictures are of the 10" wide ones to show the deep concave. so, yeah.

at the end of the day the two sets of 5 spoke wheels will look worlds better than the two niche wheels. they don't fit the lines of the car.

The STR wheels are concaved. 2.5" on their 8.5" wide wheels and 3.5" on the 9.5" (too big obviously). I'd say that's pretty significant given their width. My Sport Editions are only around 1" and they still look decent!

why can't you run a 9.5" wide wheel?

I've never heard of anyone running a wheel that wide on these cars. I thought I had read about 9", but there were issues depending on suspension options and tires.

I'd rather not cut the sidewalls on new tires learning they rub in given scenarios (done it before, waste of $$).

at your ride height you should be able to get away with it, no problem.

and if they rub, roll the fenders.

You need to start reading posts before commenting. I've already explained the fenders are rolled, so saying they will fit without issue is a pretty relaxed statement. They were rubbing with 8" wide wheels, rolling the fender gave at the most 3/8~1/2 clearance. Another 1" of wheel isn't going to fit in there without hammering the hell out of the car.

set it and forget it wheel setups are no fun, but fine. get the STR in the 8.5" size and go on your way. they'll fit without any issues.

and to continue our off base argument, i'm surprised you were able to get a set of KV5s to rub. the specs on them are pretty conservative...

They were fine until I drove the car and turned, or added any weight in the back, ie; one person. Either way, I have two new tires with shredded rubber gouges all around the start of the sidewall. Looks like ****, so they are sitting around as spares in case I need a replacement tire immediately. The front fits 255/40/18 without issue, no rubbing.

I don't think I could roll the rear fenders anymore without doing some paint damage (not the DIY/home brew method anyways).

Wish someone could chime in who's running a wider wheel with a similar setup. I am not near any store that sells wheels, it all has to be shipped so I need to be certain they are going to fit properly.

Anyways, lots of winter months ahead so there is no rush.
