HELP Installing Pulley

I am trying to get ths pully back on using the Pulley puller sent to me by 3800 Performance and I broke the 2 little bolts that hold the large bolt in place. I have about a quarter inch to go. I am using grease to keep everything moving for the bolt the Shaft is not moving I am using a bar to keep tension on the Belt so the shaft does not move. these are breaking right in the middle so it is not backing out on me. WHat do I do. Should I go and try to get a few more of these at the hardware store I guess is there a kind of harder metal I should look for.

so noones got any comments on this????

You need to be more patient for help than three hours, champ.

How are you cracking bolts? Are you using the proper anti-seize on them? I am not sure what you are describing, but I would back them out and grab replacements from the parts store.

Was not tring to be rude or anything. Just had very limited time bacause today I am in Texas and I was trying to get it done yesterday. My car is down right now tried to take the pully off and back on again same results. Broke 2 more of those bolts and crushed one trying to get the oully off. Should it be this hard. I am going to try again on Friday. If anyone has anything to help. I am running out of ideas.

I wouldn't worry about him. Can you take a pic, might be easier to help you as Im not understanding your issue. From what I gather the pulley is only going on halfway and then snapping bolts? Where is this pulley from? At this point I would consider draining the s/c oil and pulling off the snout and then taking it to a machine shop and let them deal with it before you damage the shaft.

might be a good idea. I am not home right now and I am in Texas I will be home friday to try again. I will take a picture then.

Ok so I guess I am a Dumb ___. When I got the Pulley I took it out of the Box and on the box it says This side away from pulley. Well I guess I put it back in the Box upside down and so I was trying to put it on backwars. So when I Took it back off and Flipped it over. It went on. Imagine that. Lesson Learned I guess.

Hey...it could of been worse like this guys GenIII that showed up to me last week.

For what ever reason, they thought it would be a great idea to finish the job of installing the pulley with a hammer.

Bolt removed was a grade 8, 5/16" size. Ya...thats a big cry away from a M8.

Not sure who played mechanic here...but they should have all their tools taken away. I was able to use my press to get the pulley off, but that snout is toast.

Atleast jacobmh27 is asking for help. :th_thumbsup-wink:

I would be injoying the new power but I am waiting for my computer to come from Overkill it will be here this week and now I am on my way to China for 3 weeks so the car is parked and I did take a few spins in the car but stayed off the gas I do not want anything to go wrong till I get the new Computer. there was nothing on the pullyey telling me what way it goes on so I had a 50/50 shot and as always I picked the wrong way. It looked like the right way to me. But I did not use a hammer and I took my time and stopped when I knew something was wrong. it is on now and THANKS FOR SOME PEOPLE ON HERE HVING MY BACK lol Thanks

In Japan waiting for my next flight I will find a postcard and post the Pic. I can not wait to get home and drive the car with the new computer. Just driving the car easy with the new pulley I felt a big difference in the Low RPM's
