• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

the heater on the gtp won't turn and i'm not sure if it's the blower resistor or blower motor went out. before this happen i can only turn on "HI" button for it to come on. now the heater won't come on period. would this be the blower resistor. i am pretty positive it is, but hate to find out it's something else. need you guys input.

Run a jumper wire from your batt to the blower motor. If it comes on, you na it's not that. If you can figure out what wire does what speed from the control plug, you can check it that way also and see if it's the HVAC controls gone bad.

is there an easier method to check cause i know it's a pain to get to the blower. when turning on different selectors on the climate control i can hear a little fading hiss, like blower trying to come on, but won't stay on.

Not really Silver. It most likely is your blower motor resistor. You will be able to tell if it is bad just by looking at it, take it out and if it looks like this: http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii259/SyntheticShield/Blower Motor Resistor/IMG_8118a.jpg, its probably your issue. Get one from a place like Auto Zone (part #DR783) they don't cost that much.

I would say probably the resistor

I just did the same thing, and had the same symptoms before it finally stopped working it was like 33 bucks at orielly and now my heater works great. All the speeds work.

The hissing sound when you change the zone controls is bc the zone controls are pneumatic.

Oh and on that resistor one of the back screws is like impossible to get out. I ended up getting some long needle nose pliers and ripping the old one out breaking off a corner.(hey if its broke how much more bad off can i get) and then taking it out.

I know i should have tried harder to but i just didnt put that one back in.

Blown97, can you update those links, none of them are working and Im not sure where you were pointing to to correct it myself.

Sorry bout that Syn!! They are good now.:th_thumbsup-wink:

Don't take out the 2 front screws, the screw holes are not holes they are slots. Just the screw towards the rear of the car needs to be taken out. The other ones just need to be loosened some and then you can pull the resistor out.

one more question. is this the correct resistor for the 97-03 gp? i never replace one before and don't know what they look like. i replaced one on my corsica, but it don't look nothing like this one.
