I have a 0141 102 0441, Problem is I know one is the MAF that is the third one in a year so it has to be something else. one is the O2 sensor I plan on doing away with that but the 441 has me stumped fuel pump is a yer old. Car wil be running fine then bucs a nit then runs ok that way yesterday today it started and stalled 4 times so I never took it out of the driveway. About a week ago it bucked real back and I could not make it home and abs lighyt stayed on left it at the shop they said it ran fine for them I drove it home and put about 400 miles on it then abs light came on 4 times but it an fine for 500 miles then yesterday I had the problem with bucking and today stalling. 1997 grand pric 3.8 naturally aspirated 300,000 miles VERY well maintained, new coils, maf, fuel pump, plugs ,wires idle valve and EGR a year ago (about 10,000 miles)

Thanks
Logan

with those codes and your issues i would suspect vac leak. and it would likely be somewhere in the evap, either on the lines or a bad soleniod(sometimes called a switch) or a bad canister.

your trans is vacuum controlled so if theres a vac leak that could be why the abs light is on. abs codes dont show on a typical ode2 code reader.

Hey swiggles thanks for the pointers since they have no inspections here can I just remove the evap and all tha stuff (money is tight right now) and anytrick or write ups on this that you know of

not unless you have a tuner to shut the codes off. otherwise youll be needing to replace them. there are some write ups on how to remove the evap but it might be different on the 97s.

you are really only looking at about $40 in parts for the evap and canister. look on rockauto.com, they are under emissions and are called "vapor canister solenoid" and "vapor purge valve"

thanks I was afraid I was looking at a few hundred bucks. Since I don't have inspections here if I do delete them and don't shut off the codes will the car still run ok and just have a check engine light? Because I could live with that because in this summer I plan on ubend and cat delete and adding headers and will need to have it re-tuned and codes adjusted at that point anyway

no i think that the evap codes effect the way the pcm works. you could leave everything plugged in and just live with the code for now, but i wouldnt do it for long.

also check with your local dealership to see if the recalls where done to your car, i think i remember there being one for the evap system in the 97s. and the evap problem might be the cause of the other 2 codes.

headers come with a downpipe that deletes the ubend and can delete the cat too.

thanks swiggles would you know which are the cheapest ones that fit a 1997 gt with the least amount of hassle to put on. I don't have a left this would be done in my driveway

Well changed the evap purge soleniod cleared codes drove for about 250 miles service engine light came back on scanned it now I get a P1441 code bit the P0441 is gone (makes sense) but so is the P0102 which I don't think makes sense I mean I did nothing to fix that one did not touch the MAF anyway now I have a P1441 and a P0141 I know the ox sensor is bad but what to I do about that other code? Evap canister maybe?

Thanks

OK gets weird here did nothing to the car got to work this morning the P1441 is gone and the p0441 is back. But it runs good Maybe delete the whole system and when I get the pCM reprogrammed next year set it to no report? or is it going to start running like crap again?

If it were my car, I would go ahead and fix the problem. You probably have an evap leak in the system. Do you have access to a smoke machine?

no unfortunatey the stealership wants 250.00 to test is and the way I see it I can replace the whole systemfor less than that

Got my answer

well it died and had to be towed got to shop next morning it ran fine for him since I ha dcleared the codes he could not pull anything, so he drove it some more after awhile it did it to him as well it bucked then died, no codes but he wiggled the wires to the ignition control module it started it stalled three more times on the way to his shop each time he wiggled those wires and it started he changed the ICM and it started been driving it for 3 days now it even seems to have more power and run smother

My thanks to all you guys for trying to help
