I have a 98 Pontiac Grand Prox GTP,
About 8 months ago I replaced the hub assemblys and did them myself, A real pain in the but that was. I also had the outer tie rod ends replaced as well and took that to a shop to have done. I have also had a front end alignment done and had shocks inspected and I can now take my hands and put them on the top of the tires and pull out and feel looseness in the hubs but, when I take the car to the shop to have them look the hubs wont move at all when up on the lift. while driving home the other night I felt the vehicle glide like it was on ice and there was no ice on the ground and it felt like the front wheels were going to fall off. I get home and pull on the tires again and thier fine. I am at a real lose here not sure what to check now but I know its a scary feeling what happened the other night while driving home... Please anyone with any expertise in this area help.....
Thank you

is everything tight that you know of? have you recently broke a sway bar end link? any funny noises?

I do have some squealing coming from the front end not a loud type but I do hear it when the windows are down. I have not checked for tightness of the hubs or sway bar links yet but will..

Checked the power steerring fluid a week ago and it was fine. The steering is responsive when either going left or right but the gliding is what I don't know about

Get it up on a hoist and check the engine cradle bushings. If they are corroded and worn out you will get exactly what you described. No matter how you do it, it's not a cheap fix.
