Help diagnose: courtesy lights always on *SOLVED*

Re: Help diagnose: courtesy lights always on

I'd unhook all the doors and see if you can get the code

Then add one in and find out where it's coming from.

Re: Help diagnose: courtesy lights always on

Here's what I'm thinking:

1.) Disconnect the battery (to reset the code).
2.) Disconnect all 4 doors
3.) Reconnect the battery
4.) Do something to trigger the courtesy lights*
5.) Check for code.

*Obviously opening a door won't turn them on now. Would hitting the unlock button on the fob trigger them? Maybe courtesy light switch in headlamp switch, or ???)

Re: Help diagnose: courtesy lights always on

Minor victory!! I disconnected this plug on the right side of the package shelf and the remaining lights timed out appropriately.

Looks like the problem is isolated to the overhead wiring. Hopefully I can find what's wrong without pulling the headliner. That's tomorrows problem...

Found it. Pinched wire at the rear passenger courtesy light. That little post was squishing the wire against the body. Peeled the insulation back, inspected and re-taped. Carefully re-installed, and all is well.

Full disclosure: This was probably my fault. When I installed the LED's, I pulled the whole assembly out because I couldn't get at the old 194 bulb when it was all together. A mistake is only a mistake if you can't fix it, right? :th_thumb-up:

Thanks! That was literally the last spot I was going to check before the whole headliner came out. Fortunately it didn't have to come to that.
