HELP!! anti-theft ring around key

ok guys i f**ked up and broke that stupid plastic ring around the key, now i get the warning on the dash, starting disabled due to theft system. HELP!!
 


no, you fix the ring and then go to the dealer and have them program everything. you will be towing your car.
 


yeah i thought i was gonna break mine when i change out my ignition switch. Im still wondering how you broke it though?
 


i was putting in the new double din radio JVC KW-XS68 and i needed a switched power wire so i was tapping into the brown wire from the ignition. so i had to take the screws out of the ignition and turn it and i ended up pushing on it and it broke :(
i felt like a rah-tard cuz it took a full day just to get the switch out, i didn't know i needed the key in it.
 
Is it possible to get that "starting disable due to theft system" if your key and car are just really stupid cold? It came on today for me and I didn't break anything, no remote start, only thing I can think of is someone messed with my car while I was at work or because everythings ungodly cold it's on the fritz.
