I only say what I said because a turbo setup is clearly not a stock part of the car. Who knows if its been done correctly and if its even running right.

Sure it may be fast and cool but it might pop a piston at any moment.

Well, how can I tell if it has been done right? THAT'S what I'm here for............

BTW, it runs and drives well. It also has pillar gauges. boost is hooked up, but, the other 2, I can't figure out.


Will more detailed pictures help?
 


Yeah pics of the gauges would help.
And if you can you should try to find someone local that knows these cars.

Does it have an Aeroforce scan gauge, if so that would be nice and help out alot.

Either way for 2k... thats a steel

Yep, Aeroforce (just figured out it plugs into the scan port under the dash and it works) boost gauge (works) and air/fuel gauge (not hooked up)

Something else I'm curious about. There's a really heavy-duty looking radiator in front of the factory radiator. The hole cover has been removed (I assume for air flow).

Is the hole necessary? It's really ugly. I was thinking about some type of mesh there.

thats the inter cooler for the turbo.l but why they would cut the bumper for better flow is very odd. looks like they cut out where the lic plate should be.

I don't think it was "cut" out, I think it was some kind of plastic plate. I'm going to figure out a way to cover it.
 
It was cut out IIRC. There was a filler plate that had "Pontiac" on it, but underneath the filler plate was the bumper and a place to mount the license plate.
 
Really sorry here, but you bought a car that you have no idea what it is......If you don't know what an intercooler is for a turbo'd car, you need to do massive amounts of reading on turbo setups. And really shouldn't be involved with it. Im not trying to step on your toes here or bash you. But so so many things can go wrong with a turbo car. Especially when you don't know whats involved in it. That intercooler looks like a mis-matched piece that someone just threw in there. Hence why they chopped the bumper up to get airflow to it. Good luck with it. I for see many problems in the near future for you.

Thanks for your opinion. Same crap dudes told me when I took the motor apart on my Harley and rebuilt it. With NO previous experience.

I think I'll keep the car and learn as I go. I'm a pretty mechanically inclined person.
 


I never said for you to sell it....keep it by all means, but please please please read up on turbo systems. For instance, you said the wastegate makes a noise you don't like....well if it is vented to the atmosphere, that is just what is going to do. Its simple things like that, that to keep and make a turbo car reliable, especially for your son. You need to know and have a basic knowledge. And FYI rebuilding a Harley motor, has absolutely nothing in common with a turbo'd car.

hes not really giving you a hard time. buying a modded car is never a good idea. most of us like to find bone stock unmolested cars, then mod them. this way you know whats been done and that its set up right, tune wise. you'll want to check the gauge for KR, (knock retard), its what chips pistons. never run any thing less then 93 octane as well or bye bye engine.

you got a few guys who tune in your state. its in your best interest to get the tune looked at by someone who can tune these cars to make sure its running right.

oh, the reason most people sell a modded car is because they know its on its last legs. most of the time. some times you do find a good seller who tells the truth and is truly selling a solid car thats been built right. by the looks of some of the pics you posted, this may not be the case for this car.
