Greetings everyone, so I finally saved up enough to get my first car (1997 Grand Prix GT), and I must admit, before now I've had little interest or experience in automotive mechanics or cars in general, save my old childhood hot wheels collection, and what I've learned helping my father work on the family car. Having my own now, has really gotten me excited with the idea of learning more about how cars work and how I can work on/ improve my own. So I found this place, and it seemed a good place to start given the car I got. I look forward to discussion and learning with you all.

Welcome. What condition is the GP in?

It's a great first car to have. Relatively easy to work on.

Seems to be in good condition, very clean. The only thing I'm iffy on is that I don't know it's service history and, it's got ~152k miles on it. Runs fine, though upshifts a bit hard at times (Automatic). When I looked up the VIN, I got an incomplete recall, so I figure I'll take it to a GM dealer to work on that, needs new tires, and I'll look at the oil and filters to see if they need changing.

Welcome, my man. Great to hear you're interested in learning and working on cars ! Too many young 'uns these days are too absorbed in screen time to care about much else...lol [ but look at me... banging away on a keyboard...hypocrite, I know ]. This is a great place with plenty of great info and people willing to help. Good luck with your new ride, toss up some pix if you'd like. Photobucket is free, it's what I use...Later.....E

Sorry for the late response, here's some pictures I took.
