I have a knock on top of the engine when its at idle you dont here but when you accelerate you here it could anyone tell me what that is

like a tapping sound or a rattle type sound??

Could tell us the type of car you have and the motor??

it a tapping and i got a 97 grand prix gtp 3800 series 2

only at idle you say?

could very well be a lifter tap your are hearing

at idle you here nothing but when you hit the gas thats when it appears

Sounds like a lifter.
