Heater core issues.

tell me if its my heater core or not. when im driving everything seems fine untill i step on it or pass another car. then i smell coolant threw my vents. and the plastic near the bottum carpet up front is more oily then what coolant would feel like and it dosnt smell like coolant. so it cant be leaking. any help. ive been stumped for 3 months on this one. and i am loosing coolant but i dont know from where. no leaks underneath the car at all.
 


Sounds like the heater core is leaking pinch off the lines going to it and pressure test the rest of the system.

lift the carpet to see if its soaked, coolant is slick to the touch too, its not water.
 
it is slick to the touch whatever the fluid is im feeling. should it smell like coolant? ill pressure test it soon i also need a new egnition switch. this is gona be a pain
 
check the hoses on the outside, on the firewall, sometimes the hoses get old and leak.

does your windshield fog up for no reason? if so it could be the hoses or the core. when my hose went bad i fogged up all the time. the insulation on the firewall will be wet under the hoses if they are leaking as well.
 
yeah they fog once in a while. ill check all that.i thought i was done with the working part and i coukld get to the fun stuff like painting it and sway bars and stuff. but every time i get close to that something like this happens. is that every gp?
 


what year is your car, and how many owners has it had, the last few people who seem to own a car just dump it because its starting to need new parts, after 100,000 miles accessory drive parts start to all fail. (water pump, powers steering pumps, idlers, and so on)

they all get old and need parts replaced, nothing last forever anymore.

the only good part is if you can do the work yourself and save money, most have to take the car to a shop, and they charge a lot so the car gets dumped.
 
mines a 01 gt. i do all the work in my back yard ive saved alot of money trust me. i love this car and its only had 2 owners before me
 
okay i might of found were the leak is coming from. theres a smaller hose on the back left side of the engine. i can see it when i look up under the left wheel well. its wet but ive been running the car and cant find a drip. ive lost most of my coolant from my reservour already. this is getting anoying.
