heated seat

so my heated seat decides it wants to just stay on sometimes. and i think its causing my battery to die. this is the second time it has done it and both times my battery was dead when i came out the next day to start my car. and ideas what would be wrong? thaanks

I think I have a similar problem like Ricky21 is having. When I drive home, my seat gets really hot, even hotter than what the hot setting is at. At one point, it gets unbearable sitting in it. The next morning, my battery was dead.

I then replaced the switch to see if that would fixed it with another used switch. That worked for a few weeks, and then it started doing it again, coming back from work. I unplugged the switch, and let the car sit for an hour. When I went to check on it, the seat was still hot, and it seemed it was still heating the seat, even though the car was off. I then pulled the fuse, for the HSEAT/LUM(I think that's what it was called). Then I checked on it 15 minutes later, and the seat was cold.

This person seems to have the same problem I'm having, so I'm assuming that's the problem with my car, with the control module for the heated seat. Unless I'm unlucky with having two switches fail withing a few weeks, which is possible with a used switch.

I've had this problem since November, and haven't gotten around to replace the control module yet, to see if that is the actual cause of it.

yupp that is EXACTLY what happened with mine it was way hotter than at the hot setting. i just unhooked the harness below the seat and it stopped. i dont need a heated seat anymore anyway seems its summer and im not driving this car next winter

Yeah, I replaced that relay module (GM #25638146), that I got in a junkyard for $1. My heated seat seems like it's working like it should, for the short time that I tested it. The seat heats up on both low and high, like it should, and shuts off like it should, for the 5 minutes that I drove it. The seat didn't get scorching hot, like it was before, but I'll probably have to drive it longer, maybe 10-20 minutes. To see if it truly fixed it.

From what this person wrote, there's power going to this relay even when the key is off. So maybe that's why we end up with dead batteries.
