Heat Sheilds spark plug wires

Anyone found a way around using the heat shields for the boots of spark plug wires. 1999 Grand Prix GT 3.8.
I noticed pictures on the box of Auto Light wires that show metal surrounding the boots of some of their wires. Cannot find any pictures of 3.8 wires. Tried using 8 mm taylor wires but wound up with misfire because wire too thick for metal boot. Will go back to 7mm wires. Too bad I thought RED wires made your car go faster :th_winking:
 


You don't need them. But you can buy fiberglass sleeves for the boots from Jegs if you are having a melting problem like I was on my 3800 Firebird.
