heat problem

Ok so I just had my car running for over 20 mins and the fans never came on. The temp gauge never got over the first fourth mark, which I believe is around 185. The t-stat is a 195, third one in the car. Every t-stat so far has done the same thing, so that's not the issue. I don't think the car is getting hot enough to let the t-stat open. I just wanna know WHY it is doing it and how to fix it. or if im just crazy and this is normal. btw the car is a 99 gt

Re: Fan issue

Try unplugging the ect sensor, my Brother had the same issue and he unplugged the ect sensor and fans kicked on

Re: Fan issue

If you have a scan tool plug it in and view the engine sensors data and see if the temp on the scanner corsponds with the data on the dash. If they do not agree then you have a bad ECT sensor

Re: Fan issue

First "1/4th" mark is 190-198ish for me, should be the same for you aswell.

The fan temps in the computer are 214 and 228, so you arent even close to making them come on.

ok so I just bleed the cooling system. now the car has heat when it warms up, kind of. When you first turn on the heater it will put out heat for a little bit then go cold. but if you turn the heater off and back on in a few mins it will do it again. what is wrong?

im with tc300 heater core back flush. that should fix it and give you tons of heat. worst case its pluged up and you have to replace it. nothing that 2 hrs of work wont fix :th_laugh-lol3:

ok just flushed the heater core both ways water was clear coming out. just took it for a 15 min drive, when I got back home the rad cap was still cold when I opened the hood. It has better heat now btw
