Headlights not working

Hi --

I have a 1999 Grand Prix GTP, 3.8L S/C engine with sunroof.

Since hurricane Irene came roaring through and TS Lee a week later, I developed a problem with the headlights. During the heavy rain, my alarm sounded, flashing the headlights, honking the horn as it should. Obviously, I was not going to venture in the rain to figure out the problem. I simply unlocked the car with the remote and the alarm stopped. The next time I attempted to drive the car about 4 days later, the headlights (low beam and daytime running lights only) did not function, either automatically with the sensor or with the switch. The parking brake was not set and I checked to be sure it was completely dis-engaged. The high beam switch did work and the those lights come on normally as long as the car is running. The interior on the passenger side is wet -- the front seat, the floor and the rear passenger side floor. There is also a bit of wetness at the top of the passenger side windshield above the visor. I have had problems with the front passenger floor getting wet before and believe this is due to the blower deflector being off or missing under the cowl. That will be repaired as soon as I can obtain the deflector part. I have never experienced any leakage anywhere around the roof, windshield or sunroof.

I tried doing a search with the term "headlights" but it returned no results. However, I will continue to search everyone's blogs for any issues such as this.

If anyone knows of some tips or repairs to attempt, I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks.

Update --

Checked 20A headlight circuit breaker and 10A DRL fuse in interior block, both OK. Also checked large 60A fuse under hood, OK too.

No, they do not flash when locking the car with the remote. The horn does sound normally when the locking remote is pushed twice.

checked any bulbs just to make sure there not the problem?...
parking lights not working either?..
checked the grounds?(not sure where they are but 9 times out of 10 the grounds are the problem)
if i was you i would check the headlight switch and make sure thats working(checking power going to it and checking power coming out of it) then if that checks out then your problem would be after the switch and before the blubs, which it just wires i think..could have something to do with the drl module or some other control unit

thanks. will check those items and post another response with the results. might be a day or two though. bad weather in the area and have other tasks to do first. thanks again for the tips.

checked both bulbs and indeed both failed. replaced them and they work fine. that solves the problem but doesnt answer why they failed. i am not one to believe fate had them both fail at the same time. i'm sure something with the weather and alarm system is shorted to have caused this. however, thanks for your tips.:th_laugh-pointup:

I'd try and help, but for all that you've indicated you might drive a W body from 1990. Today I'm sitting at home in front of all the GM FSM's and could post anything you need. Yet.. I can't, because you didn't say 2001 GP or 2003 Regal. Sorry, it bothers me slightly when it's expected that we can help w/o much info.

anything besides the low beams functioning improperly? noticing things like door locks gauges, or anything else electrical acting weird? I'd first try replacing the bulbs, and go from there. At worst, this could be a BCM issue
