• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

headers question please help

all headers have the real "u bend" taken out. speed daddy headers have a bend in the downpipe but its not a U BEND. its more of a clearance issue going over speed bumps... other than a few scuffs on my speed daddys there isnt a problem with it. get the speed daddy headers. pace crusters require welding.

We should all be commision from Speed Daddy....
They're cheap, but not cheaply made, have them too....work great.

With a quick glance, that looks like a good thread.

I did mine with VERY little experience, my biggest issue was the rust welded down pipe to cat back bolts that required a dremel cutting wheels and carbid drill bit, hopefully you'll have more luck.

Simply:
-KEEP your stock head gaskets (Do not use the ones with the kit)
-You will probably break the cross over bolts (oh well)
-Best to get (2) 3" and (2) 2.25" band clamps, got mine at Napa (as appose to the horseshoe clamps in the kit) (unless your getting things welded)
-Copper RTV is your best friend (use it on at all of the connection points)
-For the rear manifold, pull the engine forward and pull your Transmission tube, (I tried "bending" it, didnt help, and you don't have to go as far as removing the rear vaulve cover like some people talk about) I removed my throttle body too, and slid the rear manifold back there ...... eventually.
-You'll need an O2 extension for the first sensor on the rear manifold (got mine from ZZP)
-Patience.

-If I missed anything, Im sure ppl will chime in

Good luck.

ps....Thanks for using the search option!!

u should also either do a EGR delete or make sure u seal up EGR hole really good with RTV..me and several other ppl had a leak there.

yes they would... they arent advertised to work... but several members here have installed them with no major probs.

EGR delete

took maybe an hour, most of the time spent on making the block off plates.

or u can just cut the tubes on EGR and take off the mounting plates... copper RTV a nickel to one and a penny to the other and works just as well.

thanks for all the tips everyone but can we get more pictures and more tips on installing the headers lol im still kind of confused :( like the 3 inch straight pipe where does that go? and the 2.5 pipe where does that go?

ebay pace****ters might not fit period.

And pace ****ters are not worth the money considering the speed daddy's work with less issues.

Thanks for the info on the 04 fitting. Other than the block off plate what is needed for the computer to do the egr delete?
