Headers or stock manifolds POLL

Headers or manifolds -which make more power

So you never swept the idea of a 2.55 pulley under the rug once it was proven that M90s don't gain efficiency past a 2.8 pulley?

Do you still have an aluminum box style cold air intake, despite the fact that it's been documented that flow is more important than temperature?

headers arent going to do much when you're still trying to breathe through rusted baffles inside stock restrictive mufflers. Going from ported manifolds to headers did not see as much of a boost drop as going from stock Mufflers with 70,000 miles on them...too Magnaflow 3 inch which dropped nearly 4 PSI.
the car was faster even though "boost" was lower.

Anything that increases the engines pumping efficiency is beneficial. Boost is a measurement of restriction.
How many turbo 3800 guys do you know of made 600 horsepower with only 18 PSI?

I will admit it does suck that none of our headers have the proper Port angle of 30 degrees like the stock front manifold has. It's not ideal that the exhaust gases have to make a 30 degree turn right at the gasket / header flange

This whole thread is about power.. Here's the first post...

Well ****. I didn't embed the link so you "could not" see the video until you clicked it

I wrote an entire manifesto... But I'll shorten it and just say BS to the stock mani's over headers... 20+ years of modding the 3800 can't be swept under the rug. That's all I have to say!

20 years and no one can find a link showing headers increasing power.

As soon as I find a car, I'm going to make a turndown right off the rear manifold to delete the exhaust and dyno it. Then swap on a set of slp knockoffs I have to see the difference.

do your own homework Im not your mother.

Go put tubular headers on your f150 and dyno back to back, if you dont gain any power I will eat a bullet, if you do gain power, you eat it.

It wouldn't gain power. But, let's talk about something relevant. Just a couple links would suffice.

Panda/vipermike's gtp with TOGs went from perfect fueling/afr at 284 whp to 311whp with a dump pipe bypassing the borla exhaust/mufflers.
Max boost pressure dropped by over 2 PSI and the air/fuel ratio was extremely lean.

Anything that improves volumetric efficiency will improve power output

I dont see how it will improve VE when there are a couple turbines blocking the exhaust.

GT picked up 20 HP... http://www.hotrod.com/articles/hppp-0601-2003-pontiac-grand-prix/

Google is you EM EFFIN friend. Im still hunting for some documented proof that headers increase HP. Ummm... They increased HP on my G8 GT, my old Maxima and my pickup truck. Why they wouldnt with a GTP is beyond me... Oh... I have SD headers...

Yes. I posted that already. First off, it's NA. Second, do you really believe it picked up 20whp? People that do every mod to a na 3800 barely pick up that much power. It doesn't add up with the real world. Slp is obviously trying to sell headers with that article.

You need to find a forced induction car. Na ls motors are nowhere near the same.

A motor is a motor, breathing is breathing, power is power, the more flow the more power you stupid or something? Babys are bottle fed, you about due to grow up soon and join everyone in the real world.

So, you're saying that putting headers on any motor, no matter the make, will yield the exact same power band gains?

yes dip **** putting headers on a 2.0 I4 and a 6.0 v8 and a 6.2s/c ALL will gain exactly 20hp at peak power, no more no less. Lets call that header magic. So in reality since 20hp is all a magical header can produce at one giving time it makes more sense to mod the I4 and not the v8 because the mass of the motor is to much and cant spin fast enough to get the air flowing to utilize the benefit of the extra air comming out.

Its not our fault your wife left you, but a small penor is still a small penor.....
