Headers for 01 gtp

Well, you have a few choices and time to figure it out.

Add headers and buy a new 3in cat.

Headers and run catless and get a tune.

Or headers and weld the stock converter back in and need no tune.
 


The wealth of knowledge from you guys is crazy lol I'll probably keep the stock cat for now add headers, and get a 3.4 pulley and a tune later down the road

tune later is never a good idea once the 3.4 is on. it maybe ok kr wise, only way to know is to scan for kr in some manner.

I'll have to check that thread out. I've been a sbc guy up to this point in my life but I enjoy wrenching and more speed is always good lol

I'm not much of a fan of sd's or pacesetters. Had them both. It was tough to keep the pacesetters from leaking at the y-pipe. And I kept tearing flexes with sd's. I ended up welding in 2 flexes to keep that from happening.

Personally, I'm a big fan of togs. They seem to be pretty maintenance free. There also used to be a header comapny called S&S. They made great headers, but I haven't seen a set up for sale for years.

Funny I did the exact opposite...I had two piece Pacesetter's and deleted the flex pipe when I switched all the mounts to poly ones.

Never had an issue after that.
 


I have installed and used SD's on 3 different personal cars, liked them every time. The price is right, no leaks, a little hassle to get one of the crossover band clamps on, but otherwise not bad. Certainly the best value you can get.

Supposedly the flex can leak, but I'm 3/3 on good flex sections. Either good luck on my part, or installer error.

And I've dented in the firewall for insurance, but never had a problem with the o2 touching. But all the cars I've used them on had new trans and motor mounts, so that might be helpful. Always used stock "flipped" dogbones as well. Not sure if that matters, though.
 
I have the stock dog bones flipped on my car. I'll run the flex until it leak and cut it out and weld in a new piece if need be. I guess it's all on the condition of the pipes and such.
