Head unit mounting kit, and Steering wheel controls

I want to get rid of the crap aftermarket radio i got with my 01 GT when i bought it, the stock one is way better than this junk.
Im going to get a Kenwood, or Alpine head, going between two units, and im leaning towards the Kenwood. But when i was reading up on it, the radio said that it would work with stock steering wheel controls... does this mean it will work with out the $65 adapter from PAC.
My other question is the mounting kit in the guy used has the radio sticking out so far the dash wont clip in right. which is maddeningly frustrating to a person with A.D.D. it bothers me soo much as i see the gap in the dash while driving. but the question is. what would be a good mounting kit for the radio, and where would i get it?

yeah i was guessing that would be what happened. i haven't really decided on either yet, they are both good, but the possibility of saviing $65 was making me lean towards the Kenwood.
Do you know where i can get a good mounting kit, ive heard there are custom one for our year car, but i havent see them where ive looked.

haha aright. ill have to look around some more.
but the basic mounting kit, unless the previous owner was just an idiot, makes my dash stick out about and half inch to a inch in the middle

humount.com has an awesome flush mount for our cars, it's hands down the best.

Otherwise, the "normal" mount kits do stick out quite a ways.

You can get the PAC adapter on ebay, new, for $42 shipped. If you look around you may be able to find a listing where you can make an offer. I offered $30 for mine and got it.

I've got the PAC adapter sittin on my desk. I'll let it go cheap if you want it.

Yes, you do need it. I had it in my '03 GT with a kenwood unit.
