put in the 7.5 quarts for a pans drop with new filter. still at half mark on dip stick (between full and low) dip stick tube does have a crack, but it should still be filling, it doesnt seap that much.

opinions?

Are you checking after you drove around for a little bit so the trans has gone through all the gears and the car is still running?

It's possible you were a little low before the drop. I too use 8-8.5 sometimes.

is that at the cold mark or the hot mark. you want the cold mark as you just changed the fluid.

warm the car up, by driving it some and re check it to see if its at full when hot.

I had to use like 8.5 qts, and I cant tell you how important level surface and having the car hot and running is.

I am having the same issue. Will this thing hold 2 gallons after a fluid change? Last thing I want to do is over fill it. And yes checking it warm and have gone through the gears.

The longer you let the trans pan stay off, the more fluid it will take.

A quick pan drop, filter service usually takes 7-7.5 for me.
A shift kit takes a bit more because you empty nearly another quart out of the accumulator and the pan is off longer.

I once left my pan off for a week while swapping a diff. The trans took closer to 10 quarts that time around.

Off for maybe a couple of hours. But seemed to be just a drip or 2 coming out when I got it back together. And no shift kit done, just a fluid filter change.
