Having a problem with lights

Hi.. I am new to the forum so I am not sure where to post this. If this isn't the right place please let me know.

My turn signals seem to only want to work when they feel like it. When i turn one on it won't light up or blink at all AND my brake lights won't work on that side. When i turn the blinker off the brake lights work again. This is on both sides of the car and both the front and the rear.

Any suggestions? I can't afford to take it to a garage so any suggestions where to start would be good.

Thank you

id start with checking all the bulbs. the rears tend to get wet and corrode the sockets, causing all sorts of odd things.

if they are clean the multi switch would be next, the part with the turn stalk on the column. its not as bad as you might think to change.

I also had an issue similar to this on my 00 GT and I messed with the hazzard light switch (turned them on and off a fgew times quickly) and everything started working again. So far it hasn't done it again so not sure what it fixed but I'm not messing with it, lol.

If you have changed any bulbs before your issue arose recheck the install.

I flipped a bulb once and it made everything haywire.

A dab of bulb grease before you put the bulbs in is a good way to get good connection prevent corrosion make them easier to remove down the road

I've had the same issue on my 2000 before, it was the multifunction switch. Our brakelights also run through that switch. (Except the highmount 3rd light I believe)

btw I forgot to post it.. i drive a 97 Gran Prix SE... I have noticed that the rear light lenses collect a lot of water in them. I will try these tips first.. thank you.
