Ok first of all hello to all. Ive heard nothing but good things bout this forum and this is my first post on this site...

Now to get to the good stuff. Sorry everyone this is going to be a long post but I have to tell my story so you know where Im at. I have a 98 gt with the 3800. My troubles started when I bought it with a MAF and MAP codes on it. It drove fine but my mpg suffered so I wanted to fix it. The previous owner told me the EGR and MAF was replaced within a years time, along with uim and gasket. So I went a head and "borrowed" another MAF off another 3800 and bought a new MAP. Still the same codes plus a bank 1 lean condition every know and then. Next I made sure all the wires leading back to the PCM were in reading 0 ohms or close to it. With no luck I took it to a shop. He said the upper and lower intake manifold gaskets were leaking (vacume leake). So I tore it down and replaced the gaskets. GOod deal right? Nope! Started it up and the idle was erratic and it will also hesitate or misfire when floring it and the RPMs go above 4000. So I just drove it for a while so the computer might relearn itself. I have tried a new O2 on the down pipe and thats it. I also seafomed it just for the hell of it. Im still getting the MAP code and the vac is at 17psi at idle i think.

I have to say that this is the first car that I have been truley stomped. I love this car and only have good plans for it, especially since GM ****in dropped pontiac :th_sign-pontiacs: (****in dumb asses for being in that position in the first place!!) PLZ any advice is helpful...

you have 17 in hg at idle? hopefully not reading psi at idle lol. did you try to see if there were any vacuum leaks still with spraying water around every seal point? Might be an ignition control module also or bad spark plug or wire somewhere.

yeah i meant to say 17 in hg. Ive done the vac test time and time again and still nothing. I dont think its the spark plugs or wires cuz the guy i bought it from said he replaced it with the uim and gasket, and plus i still got codes that are poppin up. is there any way to test the ingition module?
