ok im getting a 2007 grand prix GT with the monsoon sound system next week from a friend.

my questions are

1. is it possible to hook up subs to the stock head unit?

2. could i use the monsoon amp to hook up the subs?

3. can i replace the monsoon amp and hook subs up to that one?

4. if i hook the sub to the amp, do i need to run any wires to the head unit?

thank you.

What I did was use a line output converter. Just wire it into your rear 6x9's and run your rcas from the converter box. But make sure you get a good quality one like the JL Audio clean sweep or Rockford Fosgate threesixty.1 otherwise at high volume the sub fades out.

You will need to hook up the subs through an aftermarket amp. You can buy a converter box that basicly converts 1 left and 1 right speaker wire into 1 left and 1 right rca outputs...wich then you could run to your amp. Since the stock head unit does not have a l+r rca's on it this is the only way i now how to do it. Maybe some one else has a better more profesional way

i would also like for someone to recommend a setup for me
im looking to spend around $300-$500 on a setup
i want it to be as loud a possible and sound good too

i also wanted to know what you thought of hifonics amps.

Amp and Subs is pretty much self preference. I'm partial to JL Audio. But for $500 1- Phoenix ZXTi600 and 2-Alpine TypeR 12's would be sexy.

If you get a PAC box (Line output converter) it will have a right + right - and left + left -. Hook the left + to the brown wire and the left - to the yellow wire on the left 6x9. Next connect the right + to the dark blue wire and the right - to the light blue wire on the right 6x9. The converter is done. Now run Rca's from the pac box to the amp.

if would be very helpful if someone could explain how install subs in my grand prix

i was thinking about getting 2 alpine type r twelves with a hitron HRA amp.

you need 2 mount ur amp 2 the speaker box then the speaker wires that hook 2 ur 6x9s splice into the pos an the neg then hook up ur converter box then ur rca wires go from the converter 2 ur amp then run u a pos wire from ur batery an then ground wire in the trunk somewhere an run u a remote wire to ur fuse box a fuse that turns on wen u turn the key

kicker 12s or 15s or rockford fosgate go to ebay they usually have some brand new boss amps they r really good i had the 4000 watt hooked to 2 kicker 15's an it slammed like none other stay away from stuff like baha an phoenix an hitron

alpine has good head units tweeter an door speakers but sub r not so good there ok for a casual listener but wont get to loud i have a alpine cd player an cd changer tweeters an equalizer an door speakers but none of there subs for me

do i need to split the wires from the rear 6x9s or just put the wires from the PAC into the speaker tabs where the wires connect?

and how do i put the remote wire into the fuse? just tuck it between the fuse and the spot it goes into?

ALSO - if i get a rockford fosgate punch p1, what hifonics amp should i get?
