Harmonic balancer

Hello I have a 2006 Grand Prix base , I had to change the gasket between the engine and timing chain cover , I have a question on putting the harmonic balancer back on is there a special tool need like with a power steering pulley , I no there's a key way on the balancer that has to be lined up but how do I push the pulley/ balancer back on thanks

There's a key on it once you line the key and the HB up start to tighten the bolt on it and it should line itself open once it's tighten enough

So basacliy it's just lining the key up and righting down the bolt , could I use a impact to tighten because wont the pulley just keep spinning. Like when removing the HB ,

Yup once the key is lined up the HB won't spin anymore. If you use a impact you can get the bolt on without the whole HB spinning but if you decide to use a standard ratchet then take a pair of vice grips and go underneath the car and remove the plastic shield underneath the flexplate then put a pair of vice grips on the flexplate then go back and tighten the bolt

Thank you guys for your help now to line the key way up and crank it down think I'm going to wait till morning to try and line it up thanks agian

Here's how I line it up. I lift the balancer on to the crank. Then I turn and apply a little pressure. Thunk.. no longer moves and you know it's engaged. Zap with gun.
