• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

the threads for the crank bolt got damaged. the bolt itselft came off so nothing wrong with the bolt. looks like the very first thread of the crank bolt hole got damaged. the tool pushed the thread down and now the crank bolt will not thread in. any ideas, maybe a tap...the threads are huge. never seen a tap like that.can i grind out the first thread, maybe? im not sure wat to do and basically this would make basically the whole engine junk...wow. any ideas is greatly appriciatedits a 98 gtp

that's what you get for letting the puller threads touch the crank bolt threads. you should have tossed something in there to take up the vacant space so the puller wouldnt do that.

youre going to have to find a tap and die set with the right size. hopefully you wont have to drill it out and retap it, that would suck and force you to use a different crank bolt most likely.

Yeah a big tap, I always throw a smalls 3/8 extension in the crank to keep the puller from touching the threads.
