Hard shifting

Hey everybody, I have an '02 SE with the 3.1L. It's my understanding this has the same transaxle as the 3.8L. So I'm having this problem where every now and then the trans will start shifting hard like the revs are not matched or something. If I turn the car off and on again, it goes away…so I'm thinking it's not temperature related. Any ideas or common remedies? Thanks, btw the car has about 100k

It's likely the PCS failing, pressure is too low when the computer tells the PCS to create a higher pressure, it doesn't and shifts get real slow which most people don't notice. The computer reads the shift timing and realizes it's slow and causes max pressure as a fail safe so it doesn't slip.

And it is often temperature related. When it gets hot is usually when the shifts get slower, cycling the ignition resets the code said above ^ and starts over but eventually will re-detect it and set it again.

Hmm I scanned the OBD2 a couple weeks ago (when the problem was still happening) and the only code was 440 (vac leak). PCS sounds possible though. The problem has no consistency and I can drive the engine warm on long trips and it may not happen. Happens through all gears too.

I have a 06 gp 3.8L supercharged that has 3rd and 4th gear out the shop said. Not sure thats true. No engine lights are on?

I've had the same thing happen on my old 2001 GP and my 2004 Bonneville. Pull to the side of the road; key off - fixes it. Both cars went to 200K+ miles with no transmission issues (aside from this little anomaly)
