So, when I bought my 02 GP GT last year at 89k mi the original tranny crapped out shortly after. It was replaced (at no cost to me) with a used transmission from a junk yard. Now...the old trans was always a little " off " from day one when I bought the car so I've nothing to compare to in terms of " proper operation " for the 4T65e. The transmission they put in seems perfectly fine and has no noticeable issues. Shifts smoothly when accelerating threw all gears, and downshifts aren't even noticeable. Just as it should be, right...Now, here is my question...This transmission has a very slight high pitched whistle only when accelerating. And I mean slight...other people don't notice, but I know my car and hear it very clearly. I heard it as soon as I got on the gas for the first time after picking it up from the shop. And I've driven at least 13k on this new (used) tranny in just under a year w/no problem. The original one it replaced made no such noise, but had many issues.

Is this normal?

Thanks for any input.

Have you checked the fluid level and condition? May just be low on fluid. Either that or maybe your PS pump is getting noisy?

Stator bearings can also cause a whine of sorts. The only fix is removal of everything and replacing it. Which isn't going to happen.

Another thought is that the filter isn't tight in the collar.

And another, the filter wasn't replaced when the trans was slapped in and maybe the filter is clogging, this causes the pump to work harder for fluid. and whine.

And then there's the ps fluid like FM said.

Then there's also the pcv maybe missing an o-ring and whistling.
