Had a Rotation--Now it's Nice and Noisy

I had my tires rotated today (I destroyed the fronts, so swapped them to the back). Now the car handles well--the rubber that's now in the front are two Potenzas. The crappy old Vivas are now in the back. However, there's now a low rumbling from about 10-35, whether I'm speeding up or slowing down. It's not a drivetrain thing or anything, because it wasn't noticeable with the old tires. Anybody have any suggestions? I had the rotation done at Walmart, so who knows what they did.

Thanks!

Feel the inside part of the tread on both front tires.

Do they feel like they have hills and valleys in them?

And the they are potenza's, which LOVE to cup, and I bet thats the reason you are feeling that.

I just went out and checked--you guys are right. They're cupped to hell. Running my hand along the inside tread is like riding a roller coaster. What's the solution? Just an alignment? I've been considering redoing my suspension--the car has 133,333 on the clock and the original struts and springs. I wonder if it's the front or the back that's causing the problem? The tires were on the back so long that they could've been getting cupped while back there, and then it became noticeable when I swapped them to the front.

You left them on the back too long without rotation.

The tires will have to be replaced to fix the problem you are having.

On your next set of tires, rotate every 5k miles and all will be good.

Pshhhh Cam they dont' need to be replaced, the cupping needs to be corrected.

My method of fixing cupping entails my favorite air freshener "Tire Smoke". That'll fix them up.

Mainly the reason it happened was because they are potenza's and lack of rotation.

If you rotate them every 5,000 miles, you wont have the issue again.

Worn out struts on these cars, dont really cause the tires to cup.
