Gymkhana: RC?



400 to 500 bills is what a complete rc set up goes for these days, most of the time they do 50 mph out of the box, gas or electric these days.

remote and receiver cost a good 200 alone.
 
true but for 500 bucks you can find or build something better, your mainly paying for the name on the this car and what it is
 
not really, ive had many rc cars and truck, 99% of the time, the body is clear, you need to paint it and do the decals.

my brothers got a gas evo buggy 2 speed trans with reverse, ( i think thats what its called) its runs about 600 and goes 60 out of the box. 1/8 scale too. and its awd as well, its a pisser when it hits second gear, then you see it get all squirrely.

your not paying anything extra for his name really.


hes also got a 4x4 truck that can just drive over curbs at full speed too, it does a solid 45 mph. also a 2 speed, w/reverse. that's around 500 bills too.
 


Love the E-Maxx. Buddy has one that we built up and he drives the crap outta that thing. We even jumped it off the roof of his house once (don't ask, lol..). It made it and kept on truckin. I have an old electric Team Losi kicking around somewhere, but it needs some parts and just can't dedicate the funds to it right now. RC hobby is a fun one but expensive. And yea, my remote setup was just under $200 and that was a few years back.
 
i had a emaxx and a revo 3.3 the revo was always broken. emaxx was a tank i only broke a couple a-arms thats it

what it comes down to is its the damn coolest toy ever that your parents would never buy for you, with good reason, they cost a lot to get in the first place, then it costs money to play with them. the nitro engine will blow up someday, ( at one point i had 3 spare engines) you need to learn how to tune the carb too, glow plugs fail, bolts vibrate loose, they need almost constant maintenance if you play with them a lot.

once you break a part, you up grade it to metal, but they still break lol i cant tell you how many rear ends i blew up, blown clutches, stripped spur gears, burnt brakes in the spur gear, blown dog bones, blow shocks, seized engines, blown rods, you name it replaced at least 2 times. and it got ran over by a car at one point of its life.

in the end its a great fun hobby, but not if your poor.
 
+1^^^ It's an expensive hobby. I've stripped 2 differentials, broke a driveshaft, broke two wings, broke a couple of small parts. I've gotten pretty lucky and not had to spend a whole lot.

I've got an E-revo VXL for anyone wondering. I run 2 3S lipo's in parallel on it. I'd say it runs above 50-55 without much problem
 


any one who knows the nitro cars, the worst sound you could ever hear is if the car runs out of range, crashes, then flips over full throttle, the poor engine does like 16,000 rpm's and leans out bad, thats when they blow up.
 
thats pretty cool! I still have my old HPI Sprint thats slightly modded, only problem is not alot of people where i live race them, least that i know of

I think ill have to buy another emaxx this summer. I really miss jumping mine and watchig itcart wheel
