• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

GXP vs a Comp G

I'll say this about tap shift. In second gear it does hold the rpms until redline whereas in "D" it seems to shift a lot earlier. I'm not sure if that helps or hurts if more management software is essentially slowing things down in tap shift.

Common sense > any thread.

You can't shift faster than a computer, nor get the exact same shift points each time either.

Only thing Tap Shift is good for is holding a gear when: roll racing or tracking the car.
Tap shift does exactly that holds the gear as long ad I need it to do. It all depends on your cars setup. It has nothing to do with shift times its about keeping the power band and shift point where I want them instead of programmed logic doing the job. And if your car is tuned tap shift is a better solution then drive.

That's what I do, use it for holding a gear, then back into D.

You get some black and white hard evidence on paper...such as...quicker times at the drag strip.

I already admitted to it being worthwhile if you autocross the car...I'm just willing to bet you can't go really any faster in the quarter with it, that's all.

My car had a canned tune and in D shifts at 6000 every time. Shutoff is set at 6200. With Tap shift I couldn't do any better.

Thats because youre tune didnt up the shift MPH to get that extra RPM you were looking for, thats not a tapshift issue, that is a tune issue.

That's what I meant. But the PCM raised the shift from 5800 to 6000, and it does it every time without me having to do it. It never made it to 6000 with the stock PCM. And that is what I was looking for. I do use the tapshift to drop into the right gear for a rolling race.

Mine did not run any better with tapshift at the 1/8th mile, and mine is tuned. I think its only beneficial in a roll race/autocross and if you know what your doing, from a dig i think its pointless to make a difference

OK let's acknowledge on a factory cal or unless its been set in your Tue that tap shift will be the around the same as stock. Minus just being able to hold the gears to your liking. If your tune specifiacly addresses all of the pattern y tap shift tables then it will keep shifting as It always was. Which is why you won't notice a difference when in tap shift

I remember as a kid when I got super excited over the TapShift thing... Then I realized... 4 steep ass gears. Teh Failz
