Hi all. Name is David and i'm new to this forum. Retired from the NAVY in Oct 10'. I have a 06' Grand Prix GXP, 65k on it and second owner. My previous ride was a 99' Pontiac Grand Prix GT and was my DD until my wife got me the GXP. Love the car. Wanted to keep the GT but the wife insisted that we down size the # of cars we have. Wanted to keep it as my winter ride. Oh well.Ive did a lot of research on the car and my only concern is that I read with the 4 speed tranny it needs a oil cooler???? Anyone agree? Any who, I look forward to gaining knowledge about this awesome car and use that to help others. Oh yeah, the other day I ran a SS Trailblazer for S&G's and IT WAS A RUSH. We broke even. He may have been holding back.

Welcome.

The main problem with the LS4 motor and the trans is heat, heat will kill it fast and often does. I tell just about everyone that owns a GXP to run a trans cooler.

The search feature is on the top of the sceen hidden in the black, you can search for various threads on here and I would recommend jumping over to LS1tech.com and trolling through the LS4 section and reading up on common issues aswell as what they are running for a cooler.

Welcome from a fellow GXP owner named David. The cooler should help keep temps down which is always good. I am getting ready to do this myself.

Welcome I'm new to, now on the trans cooler question what does your guys car avg on temp? I'm about 105 and after 3 constinstant runs at the races I'm only at 180 also only have 1500 miles on my tranny
