gxp or gtp?

I'm sold my j-body and am shopping for a S/C w-body or maybe a gxp. Figured I'd might as well switch car forums too. W-body will definitely be a step up.

Many will tell you GTP because of how inexpensive it is to mod, and that they can be made as quick as GXP's with some fairly basic mods. Only reason to go to GXP is if you like v8's, and don't like the sound of v6's. You will get the supercharger whine with the GTP though which can be equally as cool.

They're not too different though. I like the GXP's front bumper better, just going by looks.

I've driven both. Been looking at the epa fuel ratings. the v-8 is only 1or 2mpg less than the s/c v6. Is this accurate?

Yes that's only true if you drive like a granny and you're in DOD/AFM mode alot. I think my car burns a ton of fuel compared to my GTP, and I drove them both the same way. Granted this one is modded now, but stock for stock my GTP got alot better gas mileage... I mean alot! So much so that I've purchased another vehicle for daily driving...

Burning oil is so hit and miss.

My buddy's 2011 silverado burns zero oil and its over 25K miles, then theres this other person we know and his truck burns 1 quart per 3k miles. Which by GM standards is 100% normal. So I wouldnt be turned away by the minor fact that it may burn 1ish quarts per 3,000 miles, figure its only 3-5 bucks worth of oil that you are using for that given time.

I loose about a quart between oil changes in my GXP. Not bad considering my GTP went thru about the same amount with no DOD/AFM

the 2011's have a shield over the afm oil pressure relief valve so they won't burn oil. Its the early 2010 and older with afm that are having issues.

1quart in 3000miles i'm ok with. I just don't want to run out of oil before the oil change is due.

Had both love the gxp better, so smooth such a smooth pull! Never dream a front wheel drive could handle so well!!! Brakes just unreal!!!! And hell the v8 is lighter :-) :-) So cold air, full exhaust and in love!! :-) :-)

no lol, 07 gt is 3.8sc, i drive like a a$$hole,

keep in mind im in heavy traffic all day, its a battle just to get home, and in winter i use the factory command start, so it idles for 10-15 mins everytime i go to use it

depending on what your situation is lots of ppl on here do much better then that with mixed driving

my car will do just under 28 on long hiway trips
